Fine Glass 'November' Beaker by Michael Powolny for Lobmeyr

About the Item

A very fine etched glass beaker designed by Michael Powolny (1871-1954) for Lobmeyr of Vienna. The piece depicts a boy with a horn and a dog inside an etched medallion, representing the month of November. The design dates to circa 1913-1914, and was manufactured by Lobmeyr in Vienna, Austria. The firm have been long known for their manufacture of exceptionally fine glassware and are still producing today. They are regarded for their collaborations with designers such as Michael Powolny and Josef Hoffmann in the early 20th Century. Signed with the Lobmeyr mark to the underside of the piece, the etching is incredibly fine and well executed throughout. This beaker is in very good condition for its age and the only area to note is a very slight 'flea bite' knock to the footrim which does not detract from the piece and unless pointed out is hard to spot. A really beautiful example of the work of not only Michael Powolny, but Lobmeyr glass makers. Measures - 8.5cm H x 8.25cm W
