Georgian Rummer Drinking Glass Engraved Handblown Lead Glass, English, Ca 1800
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a very good English "RUMMER" drinking glass, which were originally drinking glasses used in English taverns in the late 18th and early 19th century. The glass is handblown and made from lead glass, having a soft greyish colour. It has an ovoid bowl, well engraved with a band of swags and tails on a short wrythen stem, sitting on a conical foot, having a snapped off pontil below. The bowl is also vertically cut with narrow panels which rise vertically from the stem and stop at the shoulder. Overall a very good example of a Georgian drinking glass...

Harrach Glass Vase Decorated with Classical Figures c1890
Located in Worcester Park, GB
Unusual example of an olive green two handled enamelled vase by Harrach, depicting two classical figures: one a bearded warrior and the other a older woman, both in white over orange. The vase is additionally finely enamel decorated around the top and on the back with stylised patterns. The two handles are hot applied. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrated its tri-centenary in 2012. Before Ludwig Moser was allowed to have his own Glassworks he, like almost everyone else in the region, bought his blanks from Harrach. In fact we will probably never know how much glass, supposedly made my other great glass makers of Europe, were in fact made and finished in the Harrach Glassworks including Emile Galle. We do know that vast ranges of Legras was made by Harrach, probably under licence and possibly the majority of the glass we think of as Fratelli Tosso...

3 Bohemian Aperitif Glasses, 1880s, France, Crystal Glass
Located in Greven, DE
A beautiful set of three aperitif glasses in green, turqouise and blue. In 19th century France, the art of glassmaking experienced a renaissance inspired by the rich history and heritage of ancient techniques. Antique glasses from this era are not only masterpieces of craftsmanship, but also important cultural artefacts that reflect the aesthetics and lifestyle of the time. Glassmaking in France had a long tradition dating back to Roman times. During the 19th century, French glass art experienced a revival, fuelled by technological advances and a growing demand for ornate objects for the home. A notable feature of antique glass from the 19th century is its variety of styles and techniques. French glassmakers mastered a wide range of techniques, including blowing, moulding, cutting, engraving and painting glass. These skills were utilised to produce a variety of glassware, from opulent crystal vases to delicate drinking glasses. Glasses also played an important role in the social and cultural circles of 19th century France. They were often used at festive occasions such as banquets, receptions and balls and were seen as symbols of status and taste. The art of glassmaking became a prestigious craft practised by talented artists and craftsmen. Today, antique 19th century glassware...

Highly impressive Pair of Moser style Bohemian Amber heavy gauge hand cut crystal and etched glass Wine or Water Drinking Goblets Glasses of museum quality, third quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly earlier. Condition: Superb condition with nice rich amber colours, both with polished pontil underneath. A very small loss to base edge of one, see image. These pieces are typically unmarked. Height: (just over) 6” (15.25cm). Diameter: (of top rim) 4” (10.25cm). Location: Dublin City, Ireland. Affordable fixed charge Worldwide Store to door shipping offered. Bohemia is well known for crystal, in large part because of certain minerals found only in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. The casing is two crystals melted together, then cut. They set the stage for crystal making and cutting, and I think you may have that backwards, they taught the rest of Europe how to make and cut glass. Moser and Murano, Moser being Bohemian and Murano being Itallion, have always been very competitive. Murano boosted that they still make alot of glass beads etc by hand and that Moser uses...
