Vintage Swedish Midcentury Trays by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn

About the Item

A set of three vintage serving trays by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn. Sweden, 1960s Classic textile design by Josef Frank over molded plywood tray. The trays are produced by Swedish interior design house and manufacturer Svenskt Tenn, Stockholm. Each tray is stamped Svenskt Tenn, Stockholm, with the company's logo. Two trays are the same size and stack nicely. The third is slightly longer and more narrow. Josef Frank (1885-1967) grew up in Vienna in an assimilated Jewish family and studied architecture at Konstgewerbeschule. In the 1920s he designed housing estates and large residential blocks built around common courtyards in a Vienna with severe housing shortages. In 1925 he started the Haus & Garten interior firm together with architect colleagues Oskar Wlach and Walther Sobotka.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. The tray is patinated and shows visible signs of wear and use. There are many stains but still present well.
