About the Item

A pair of large porcelain vases with a large all-round depiction of a medieval falcon hunt on horseback in a wooded landscape against a mountainous background, noble, decorated figures on horses with elaborate harnesses painted in muted colours, a female falconer with four birds on foot, a stag chased by two dogs, gold decoration. Design of the decor: ENA ROTTENBERG (1893-1952) actually Emma Helena Rottenberg, was a Hungarian-Austrian craftswoman, draughtswoman, ceramicist and member of the Wiener Werkstätte artists' association. After completing her school education, Ena Rottenberg began studying at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts in 1916. In addition to the Wiener Werkstätte, she also worked with the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory, Friedrich Goldscheider, the Vienna Tapestry Manufactory and, above all, the J. & L. Lobmeyr Glass Manufactory in the 1920s. Today, her designs and objects are exhibited in glass, porcelain and design museums in Austria and abroad, including the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory Museum, the Passau Glass Museum, the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna, the Grassi Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Design of the decor circa 1928/1930.
