The sculptor was since year 1731 modeller of Meissen manufactory - he is one of the best modellers Meissen manufactory ever had. - Kaendler designed The Four Cherubs / Seasons' Figurines (Model 1068) circa 1748.
First Quality
Specifications:
-- there are four childlike naked cherub figurines existing - they are Symbols of Four Seasons:
a figurine wearing a wreath of flowers' blossoms on head as well as holding a flower in left hand (= symbol of Spring) embraces a female cherub holding ears of grain and a sickle (= figurine of Summer). Further there is a male figurine holding up a red wine glass visible / additionally, it seizes a jar in left hand: Beyond that, this cherub wearing a wreath of wine leaves on head sits on a wine cask (= it is Autumn / Fall).
Finally, the head of fourth boyish cherub is covered by fur coat, the figurine holds a pot filled with embers (it is depicting Winter).
-- the four cherubs are supported by base depicting earthy ground - its edge is decorated by Rocaille ornaments.
