Meissen Figurine Group: Gallant Couple Clad in Biedermeier Garments Manufactory: Meissen Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark with Pommels on Hilts Model Number K 163 Former's Number 52 Painter's Number 37 FIRST QUALITY Dating: made circa 1880 - 83 Material: porcelain, glossy finish, multicolored painted Technique: handmade porcelain Style: Historicism (made fourth quarter of 19th century) THIS FIGURINE GROUP WAS MODELLED BY: HEINRICH GOESCHL (1839 - 1896) / circa 1876. Goeschl was a genre sculptor and had studied at Academy of Munich (Bavaria / Germany) and in Italy / Rome, too. The sculptor worked mainly in bronze and ivory. Additionally, the Meissen manufactory acquired six models from Goeschl in the period 1880 - 1882. MEISSEN GALLANT PAIR OF BIEDERMEIER FIGURINES: Noble young lady accompanied by youthful nobleman clad in finest Biedermeier garments. -- A couple: Youthful man presenting to his beloved female companion a bouquet of flowers (= GESTURE OF LOVE).
