Meissen gorgeous figurine group of finest quality: There are four cherubs symbolizing the four seasons - of most lovely appearance visible. Manufactory: Meissen Dating (please note!): Middle of 18th century, made circa 1755-60. Marks: Small blue Meissen sword mark of pre-marcolini period attached to edge of base (backside). Bottom not glazed. FIRST QUALITY Material: white porcelain, glossy finish, finest painting. Technique: Handmade porcelain.   Designer: Johann Joachim Kaendler / designed and modelled circa 1748,  he was chief sculptor at Meissen manufactory from 1742-1775. Kaendler is the most famous modeller Meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as Shepherd Figurines, Comedian's Children, Gardener Children (with Acier), Paris Town Criers (with Reinicke and Meyer), Gallant Figurines, etc. Specifications: Subject: Seasons Cherubs figurines (four childlike naked putto (cherub) figurines). A figurine wearing a wreath of flower blossoms on head as well as a flower in left hand (symbol of SPRING) embraces a female cherub holding ears of grain and a sickle (figurine of SUMMER). Further there is a male cherub holding up a red wine glass visible / additionally it seizes a jar in left hand: Beyond that, this cherub wearing a wreath of wine leaves on head sits on a wine cask (it is AUTUMN). Finally, the head of fourth boyish cherub is covered by fur coat / the figurine has a pot filled with embers (it is depicting WINTER). - The four cherubs are supported by rocky base decorated with sculptured leaves and flowers. MEASURES / DIMENSIONS: height: 5.90 inches ( = 15.0 cm) width: 5.70 inches ( = 14.5 cm) depth: 4.33 inches ( = 11.0 cm) It is model 1068 (model number isn't visible here). Early manufacturing (middle of 18th century ! ).
