Samson Paris Signed Porcelain Trinket Box
By Edmé Samson
Located in Dallas, TX
Presenting a gorgeous French heraldic early 20th century Samson Paris signed porcelain trinket box probably by Edme Samson.
Marked on the base with the letters “B” and “W” inside a shield. What appears to be a Samson mark to the right of it and ‘Hand Painted Made in France”. The ormolu rim on the base has serial numbers ‘747-1?.
The lid features an Armorial or Heraldic Crest with a Lion and a Vulture flanking a shield with crown overhead and the motto “Gloria Victa” (Glory to the Victor) and signed ‘Jean’.

Samson specialized in reproducing antiques from the 1600s and 1700s. One of his most interesting works was his Heraldic or Armorial pieces. This box falls into that category. With this medium sized box, he was not only copying the larger porcelain caskets or coffin boxes...
