Large, sterling silver-mounted threaded crystal, cup-form match striker, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1897, Charles Mappin (of Mappin Brothers) - maker. Measures 4 inches high x 2 1/2 inches diameter x 3 1/2 inches from outer edge of handle to outer edge of cup. Originally meant for long fireplace matches, but will hold standard sized strike-anywhere matches also. Dark areas in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.
