Very Good & Heavy 19th Century Sterling Silver Christening Mug, London 1866

About

The baluster shaped body having a foliate inspired handle and decorated overall with richly embossed foliate motifs, the interior retaining a subtle gilt wash, raised upon a spreading circular foot, the underside bearing full hallmarks and London makers marks for George Richards & Edward Brown. The front inscribed with dedication for 'Harold Humfrey, June 2nd 1867'. Provenance: By direct descent through family. In very good overall condition and of significant weight, 6.46 troy ounces. Measures: Height, 4.25” high (base to thumb-piece) x 2.5” diameter across the rim.
