Large Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Plate Charger Fish, Lobster and Shrimp
About the Item
An antique Japanese enamel over copper plate or charger. The interior of the plate is adorned with a polychrome enamel image representing a bowl with fish and crayfish, a dragonfly and plants inside, and fish and a crayfish below surrounded by floral, geometrical, and butterfly ornaments on the borders made in the Cloisonne technique. The backside features a foliate scroll motif on the turquoise ground made in the same technique. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century.
