About the Item

An extraordinary and iconic pair of large wall lights, model 1461 from the celebrated ‘Dahlia’ series, designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte in the 1950s. Among the designer’s most recognizable and sought-after works, these sconces embody the purity and theatricality of Italian mid-century lighting. Each fixture features two sculptural glass blades — one in a soft salmon-pink hue, the other in crystal-clear glass accented with subtle turquoise beveling. The glass elements are elegantly curved and polished to razor-sharp precision, capturing and diffusing light with exquisite nuance. As seen in the photographs, the interplay of tones and transparency casts dramatic reflections and emphasizes the sculptural silhouette. The brass frame houses two candelabra sockets and retains its original wiring. It shows visible signs of age and oxidation, left intentionally untouched to preserve its warm, authentic patina. No restoration has been undertaken to maintain the original presence of the pieces. Monumental in scale and exceptional in refinement, this pair is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most exclusive lighting designs from Fontana Arte’s golden age. Museum-worthy and deeply collectible. Condition: Original vintage condition. Visible patina and surface wear on the brass, no cracks or damage to the glass. Original wiring.
