"Vitro" Outdoor Lamp Designed by Emmanuel Babled for FontanaArte

About the Item

"Vitro" is an outdoor wall and ceiling lamp, designed by Emmanuel Babled and manufactured by FontanaArte, with a body in opaque plastic polymer and a diffuser in opaline or transparent plastic polymer or in metallic chrome or metallic bronze colors. It can also be semi-recessed thanks to a template sold as an accessory. Dimmable using the specific light dimmer (not included). Also suitable for wet outdoor locations. Its lighting source is 13W LED (2700K, CRI 80, Lumen 1150). DIMENSIONS: D. 3.4", W. 11.8", H. 6.7" Designed by Emmanuel Babled, "Vitro" comes from the idea to create a lamp enhancing the characteristics and brilliance of objects made from glass. This initial idea led to a new technological challenge: using the most evolved plastic polymers today on the market to produce a light capable of conveying the same "magic" as cut glass, a material that makes objects extremely beautiful and intriguing, regardless of their function. Designers and architects thus created a multipurpose lamp, with a super-resistant product architecture having all the requirements of strength and comfort, not possible to achieve with glass. "Vitro" is made from three injection-molded pieces in self-supporting and self-extinguishing technopolymers. The body enables very quick installation to whatever support the user chooses. The internal part is molded in a material with a very high light diffusion coefficient to guarantee visual comfort and recreate the shape and color of a traditional halogen light source. In both the super-clear and metallic versions, the lens copies and enhances the cut glass effect. LED technology works on direct power grid voltage and can be regulated. It can be wall or ceiling mounted. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. EMMANUEL BABLED was born in France in 1967. He studied Industrial Design at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, graduating in 1989 and founding his own design studio in 1992. In 2010 Emmanuel Babled Studio moved to Amsterdam after many years in Milan. Since the start he has developed a wide range of unique pieces and limited editions in self-production and for prestigious manufacturers. This work is part of private and public collections. At the same time he has also been designing industrial products such as furniture and lighting. His design approach is based on the idea that a good project comes to life through direct contact and physical presence in the territory of its production. Observing materials and techniques in their authentic surroundings and gaining a feeling for place and social conditions have become an important part of his work method. Territorial skills and the human factor are elements that determine the result. Emmanuel Babled has been working with glass in Murano (Venice, Italy) for over twenty years, a long and successful collaboration. He works with marble in Carrara (Italy) and is continuing to explore different types of territorial skills in Europe, as well as in other parts of the world. Far from merely celebrating tradition, he's more interested in challenging traditional methods in order to obtain innovative and meaningful results. His work often combines a historical knowledge of the craftmanship mixed with a computerized process and original composition.
