About the Item

Exceptional quality, attributed to Maison Gagneau, Paris gilt and patinated bronze desk lamp designed as a quiver of arrows in the Neoclassical taste. Circular base with laurel leaf wreath motif supporting a patinated bronze flaring quiver with a gilt bronze garland climbing upwards, topped with a wide, rich florette border with a multitude of arrows at the top. The lamp retains it's original bronze leaf embellished harp and finely chiseled Victory Wreath finial. Attributed to Maison Gagneau Paris. We sold a very similar smaller desk lamp by Maison Gagneau, fully signed, with an identical base. Quality and design consistent with this maker, possibly signed on the interior of base which is currently closed by a fitted plate. Very good condition with lovely patina to gilding and patination with three minute abbraisions to the patinated stem. Finely detailed surfaces of gilded and patinated bronze highlight the effect of light refracting, cascading and dispersing when illuminated. Measures: 79 cm high 16 cm base 24 cm harp width 49 cm to top of arrows.
