About the Item

Innocente Gandini for Arredoluce, 'Sunlight' table lamp, model '14100', mirrored sandblasted glass, chrome-plated steel, Italy, circa 1970 This special lighting piece, created by the Italian multidisciplinary artist Innocente Gandini, is known as Sunlight and dates back to approximately 1970. The lamp features a circular design with a rotating disc at its base. One side includes a mirror with the iconic adjustable light sphere developed by Angelo Lelii, which can be positioned using a magnet. The opposite side showcases a mirrored surface etched with curved lines. The lamp's overall design and graphic pattern come together to create an abstract representation of the sun. Sunlight reflects a harmonious blend of artistic creativity and technological innovation. Innocente Gandini (1941-2016) was a multifaceted artist known for his work as a painter, ceramist, and designer. He graduated in scenography in Rome and was a member of ‘Associazione per il Disegno Industriale’ (ADI) from 1973 to 1977 and from 1984 to 1987. After earning his degree, he primarily pursued a career in the arts. Among his contributions to Arredoluce were two distinct lighting fixtures, Scultura and Sunlight, each reflecting his unique artistic vision. In 1973, Gandini participated in the fifteenth Milan Triennale, an international exhibition focused on modern decorative and industrial arts as well as architecture. He featured in the Italian section titled "Lo spazio vuoto dell'habitat" with an installation named "Specchio per la luce", which he co-designed with his close friend, Bruno Munari (1907-1998).
