An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Georgian sterling silver sucket fork; an addition to our collectable flatware collection This exceptional and rare antique George III sterling silver sucket fork has a plain oval form. The oval spoon bowl is conjoined to a three-tined fork via a narrow stem, ornamented with plain shoulders. The surface of the bowl is embellished with the later engraved inscription 'Birdie 1891'. The reverse of this antique silver sucket fork features a rounded heel to the spoon's bowl. This exceptional sucket fork was crafted by the renowned flatware makers George Smith (III) & William Fearn. * A sucket fork is a small utensil used for eating sucket or sweetmeats. Condition This antique silver sucket fork is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the stem are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver. A Very Fine George II Combination Sugar Bowl/Spoon Tray Made in London in 1753 by Samuel Taylor The Bowl stands on a circular spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The main body is plain in design with an attractive baluster form and is engraved with a contemporary "Lion Rampant" Crest. The sides then rise to an everted rim. The stepped pull off cover has a finely beaded rim and rises to a circular raised central section, which doubles as the foot of the tray, when in use. The Bowl is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover. This piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour.
