Late 19th Century Venetian Carved Giltwood Jardiniere with a Figure of Dragon

About the Item

Late 19th Century Venetian carved wood parcel gilt jardiniere with a large arch-shaped mirror featuring Verre églomisé (reverse-painted) floral composition on the top. The frame is decorated with figures of cranes, flowers, and a detachable detail of a winged dragon. It rests on four feet, with the front ones carved in the shapes of dragons. The jardiniere compartment is painted in off-white and adorned with arched friezes and moldings. There are minor signs of natural antique aging on the surface of the mirror and gilt wear.
