About the Item
An exquisite pair of trumeau mirrors. Mirrored glass on the bottom halves of each. Top halves include a hand painted diptych of a pastoral scene. This includes a dog on the right looking towards a pair of swans on the left-hand side. These painted sections are surrounded by gilt carved trim, including a carved floral accent. The rest of the frame is made up of a light cream painted color. The glass is divided into two sections. The second shows a French hunting dog drifting by the edge on a lake spotting a pheasant hiding under a rosebush.
18th Century made.
In good condition. Gentle wear consistent with age and use. Lightly restored on the edges of the frame but these are generally the original finish.
No obvious markings on the piece.
This elegant pair would elevate any interior space with the ambience of a fine French apartment.
