About the Item

This rare, six-piece bed is from the Positano series, which was designed by Ico Parisi for MIM Roma (Mobili Italiani Moderni). It exemplifies the elegant functionality of Italian modernism. Veneered in walnut with distinctive architectural lines, the design reflects Parisi’s ability to merge rational form with refined detail. The set includes two integrated nightstands, each with storage compartments and shelving. They frame a central headboard with lined panels in its original green fabric. The bed base features the period's characteristic woven elastic straps. The built-in technological elements are particularly notable, demonstrating Parisi’s forward-thinking approach. Original radio switches and integrated lighting are seamlessly incorporated into the nightstands, providing both convenience and ambiance. The black metal legs and hardware subtly contrast with the warm walnut surfaces, enhancing the ensemble's balanced geometry. This bed embodies the optimism of postwar Italian design when domestic furniture was conceived as part of a modern lifestyle. Both rare and collectible, the Positano series remains one of Parisi’s most sophisticated collaborations with MIM Roma, uniting craftsmanship, innovation, and the poetic modernity that defined his work. Founded in 1957 by the Fazioli brothers in Rome, MIM Roma sought to marry industrial production with refined Italian design. Their full-cycle approach—from conception and manufacturing to retail—was quite ahead of its time. Literature: Luisa and Ico Parisi. Gerhard Westermeier and Markus Winter, Berlin, 2008.

Vintage Italian double bed with bedside tables attributed to Ico Pairisi

In the enchanting embrace of the 1950s, from the hands of a master, Ico Pairisi, emerged a work of art that effortlessly fuses functionality with the poetic essence of design. Behold the vintage Italian double bed accompanied by its faithful companions, the bedside tables, a symphony attributed to Parisi's visionary genius. Carved from the very essence of nature, this bed is a testament to the enduring beauty of wood. It is not just a bed, but a narrative woven into its very fibres. The two side bedside tables, like faithful attendants, flank the bed and their souls intertwine with the very being of the bed. The bedside tables are embedded and connected to the keyboard not only in form but also in purpose, a symbol of unity in design and life. However, it is the headboard that dominates the stage: a platform of possibilities. Above the solid bedside tables...
