Antique map titled 'Imperii Sinarum Nova Descriptio'. Beautiful map of China and Korea, much detail troughout the map. Including the Islands of Formosa (Taiwan) and Hainan. The Great Wall of China is also depicted. Originated from 'Atlas Maior' by J. Janssonius. Artists and Engravers: Jan Janssonius (also known as Johann or Jan Jansson or Janszoon) (1588-1664) was a renowned geographer and publisher of the seventeenth century. Condition: Good, original/contemporary hand coloring. The cities are touched with gold. Professionally remargined at the top, with some manuscript additions in upper border. Small closed tear at lower end of middle fold. backed with thin Japanese, folding line restored. Please study image carefully. Date: c.1650 Overall size: 61 x 52 cm. Image size: 0.001 x 52.5 x 47 cm.
