The handle and part of the blade are richly decorated with gold tone foliate patterns. In the middle of the blade, there is a diamond shaped overlay with gold tone calligraphy. The sheath is covered with fabric. Kard is considered a type of knife found in the Persianate societies like Persia, Turkey, Armenia, and all the way to India.
