About the Item

A reversible three- panel carved and decorated screen from the set and production of "The Knick", an HBO show from 2014 - 2015 that looked at the professional and personal lives of the staff at the Knickerbocker Hospital in the early part of the 20th century. The screen with heavily carved pieced panels with foliate scrolls, acanthus leaves and nuts. One side of the screen with printed yellow and pink cabbage roses, some stitched and pinned appliqués, against dark brown ground with trailing vines. The fabric panels are framed by additional carving of acanthus leaves, flowers and bead motifs. The reverse side with gold thread embroidery and intricate appliqués of lace, rope trims, beads and fabrics on a tone- on- tone ecru field. The screen is resting on brass ball casters for ease of movement. Dimensions: Each panel 24 3/4" W, 1 1/4" D, 76 1/2" H at the highest point and 68" H at the lowest point Condition: Various signs of age and use include very minor losses to screen and minor fraying to fabrics and trims.
