Vintage Square-Size Persian Tribal Baluch Sofreh Kilim in Brown, Dark Red, Ivory
Located in Barrington, IL
This exceptionally rare early 20th-century Persian Baluch Tribal Sofreh Kilim is a highly collectible piece of authentic tribal artistry. Handwoven by the Baluch tribes of Southeast Persia, this desirable square-format kilim was traditionally crafted for personal, ceremonial use rather than for trade, making surviving examples particularly scarce. The kilim features a deep dark brown (chocolate) field accented by a geometric dark red border and detailed with intricate soumak weaving in alternating ivory and red. Made from natural organic dyes and fine handspun wool, the artistry and craftsmanship reflect the Baluch people's deep weaving heritage. Antique Persian Khorassan Oversize Rug in Allover Floral Pattern in Deep Purple
Located in Barrington, IL
This extraordinary vintage Persian Khorassan rug is a striking example of refined elegance and artistic mastery, distinguished by its rare deep purple (eggplant) field— and a color seldom seen in Persian rug weaving and highly coveted by collectors and designers alike. Woven in the mid-1900s, this masterpiece pays visual homage to the legendary “Sickle-Leaf Vase Carpet”—also known as the William Clark Kerman Vase Carpet—which holds the world record for the most expensive rug ever sold at auction. The rug’s allover floral pattern is rendered in a symphony of soft, elegant tones: sandy yellow, French blue, pastel magenta, and navy, creating a harmonious contrast against the luxurious purple background. Each motif is delicately balanced, evoking the timeless grandeur of Persian garden themes and echoing the Safavid dynasty aesthetic that inspired the original vase carpet. Hand-knotted in the renowned Khorassan region of northeastern Iran, this piece showcases the exceptional craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and fine wool quality that define antique Persian rugs. The intricate floral elements, scrolling vines, and layered palette speak to centuries of tradition and the artistic legacy of Persian textile artisans. A rare and statement-making piece, this rug is ideal for sophisticated interiors, gallery-worthy collections, or connoisseurs drawn to historic design, exceptional color rarity, and museum-quality elegance.
