About the Item
Size: 7ft 5in x 5ft 9in (227 x 175cm).
Caucasian Karachov Kazak style rug of classic design on a red ground.
Circa 1980.
An outstanding example of a Karachov Kazak design rug with the traditional large octagonal central medallion design. The central medallion is on an ivory ground, the four corners contain the square and star design. Note the many tribal filler items in the field. The main border is of a very traditional 'leaf and wine glass' design on a soft yellow ground.
This rug is an outstanding example of a small group of very high quality reproductions made in Turkey in the 1980's, the wool is handspun and very soft, the dye quality is outstanding.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
A really superb furnishing rug.
