About the Item

This is an outstanding set of 4 W199 Birch Armchairs, designed by Walter Gropius and Ben Thompson for Thonet in 1951. They were produced in Austria in the early 1950s and the listed price includes the set of 4 chairs. Gropius was a co-founder of the Bauhaus school and is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern architecture. Their design features bent birch plywood legs. The finish on these chairs has achieved a beautiful aged patina. Each armchair measures 21 inches deep, 25.5 inches wide, and is 29.5 inches high. Their seat is 18 inches from the floor. They show myriad signs of age and use, with several scratches and scuffs. Overall, these truly scarce chairs are in good condition. Please see photos. Genuinely faulty goods will be replaced or money refunded on a case by case basis, however we must be advised of any faulty goods upon receipt of the item. It is the customer's responsibility to pay for return shipping and ship the item back to us. If the item is found to be faulty, we will also refund the postage cost. It is at our discretion to refuse the refund of undamaged goods. If an order is placed and you would like to cancel the order, please notify us immediately. Any refunds will be processed via the same means that payment was made.
