Set Of Four French 19th c. Napoleon III Period Patinated & Giltwood Armchairs

About the Item

A sensational set of four French 19th century Louis XVI style Napoleon III Period patinated and Giltwood armchairs. The set are raised by elegant circular fluted tapered legs ending with ball feet while at the top is a Giltwood band of palmettes. Above each leg is a carved block with a richly chased rosette. The straight frieze has a recessed patinated panel with a top and bottom Giltwood beaded band. The 'C' scrolled arms are supported by baluster shaped fluted supports with the same palmette designs of the legs. The arms having the same beaded trim leading to the rectangular shaped back. At the top center of the upholstered back is a reserve of berried laurel swags flanking a central oval design with a carved rosette interior. At the two ends of the back are elegant Giltwood finials.
