Mario Bellini Cab 413 Chair For Cassina

About the Item

Mario Bellini Cab 413 Chair For Cassina “A new kind of chair, made entirely of saddle-hide, often cloned today.” This is how Mario Bellini describes the best-selling Cab chair-armchair, developed in the golden age of Italian design and today an iconic piece in the I Contemporanei collection. Cab is the first saddle-hide chair with a free-standing structure, inspired by the relationship between the skeleton and the skin. The individual pieces of saddle-hide are stitched together and the upholstery is then molded to a steel skeleton and closed with zippers, like a custom-tailored suit. A modern, versatile, iconic piece, Cab furnishes the most prestigious hotels and luxury restaurants, executive board rooms and congress centers with a varied product line in a palette of colors. STRUCTURE Tubular steel frame, painted black. · Seat shell in black plastic. PADDING Flexible cold processed polyurethane foam. UPHOLSTERY Saddle leather in colors: Bulgarian red, natural, taupe, brown. “A new kind of chair, made entirely of saddle leather, often cloned today.” This is how Mario Bellini describes the best-selling Cab chair-armchair, developed in the golden age of Italian design and today an iconic piece in the I Contemporanei collection. Cab is the world’s first free-standing saddle-hide chair, inspired by the relationship between the skeleton and the skin. Its upholstery is made up 22 of parts in saddle leather that are individually die-cut and then undergo 22 processes by hand. Only after a lengthy shaving procedure to thin the parts to be joined, are the cut parts stitched together. The upholstery is then hand-molded to the steel skeleton and closed with zippers, like a custom-tailored garment. Modern, versatile, iconic, Cab furnishes the most prestigious hotels and luxury restaurants, executive board rooms and congress centers with a varied product line in a palette of colors. Mario Bellini Cab Tab Dining Table For Cassina
By Mario Bellini
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Mario Bellini Cab Tab Table For Cassina The design approach that in 1977 led Mario Bellini and Cassina to clad the structure of a chair in saddle leather – in the manner of a bespoke suit, breathing life into the iconic Cab – prompted the great architect and the Meda-based company to extend the same aesthetic language to the creation of an elegant, sophisticated table. Cab Tab highlights the expertise of the company’s artisans in the lengthy, intricate processing of saddle leather. The various parts, cut with a CNC machine and then worked by hand, are sewn to create a piece of upholstery that is masterfully hand-moulded to the metal skeleton of the table. The table is embellished with saddlery top-stitching visible in the junctures between the parts. The upholstery is closed with zippers along the inside of each leg, like a custom-made suit STRUCTURE Saddle leather in natural shades – a selection of reds, blacks and browns, green and blue. Mario Bellini 'Cab' Lounge Chair, Tubular Steel and Leather by Cassina
By Mario Bellini, Cassina
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Loounge chair designed by Mario Bellini in 2015. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Roomy and inviting, cab lounge is a restatement of the cab chair concept. Nothing short of a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the Cab Lounge armchair is perfectly suited to both residential or contract use. The leather upholstery fits the tubular steel frame like an exquisitely tailored garment, complementing the curves, in a perfect symbiosis between the structural and the organic. The eleven leather sections, hand-stitched and fitted with four zipper closures, undergo fourteen hand-executed processes before they are complete. Fitted with a reclining mechanism, the five-spoke base sets off the entire chair, while the ergonomically correct design renders it extraordinarily comfortable; the care taken in the details is without equal.
