The Qwanta Totem Chair is the result of many years of experimentation and evolution of the African Birthing Chair. It is assembled from two pieces by sliding a backrest into a base creating a stable structure without additional hardware. This iteration of the chair is inspired by the Gurage culture from Central Ethiopia and the swappable backrest totems found in many parts of Sub-saharan African countries. The chair comes with four reversible and swappable backrests, that can be displayed as wall art when not inserted into the chair.
