About the Item

An exquisite late 19th century French provincial daybed in the Louis XV style, sourced from Provence, France. Hand-crafted from solid walnut with sleigh-form ends, each framed in its original hand-woven cane. The carved frame rests on short cabriole legs with floral motifs along the apron and knees, ending in scroll toes. The surface shows a warm patina and characterful signs of age. The daybed retains its original upholstery, including the vibrant yellow French mattress with floral damask tufting, preserved beneath the original light green linen slipcover and matching bolster pillow. Structurally restored and stable, the walnut frame has been gently polished with wax to enrich the grain while maintaining authenticity. The cane panels remain original and well-preserved, consistent with careful use and age. A versatile and elegant piece that functions beautifully as a chaise, daybed, or decorative accent in both traditional and eclectic interiors. - Origin: Provence, France - Period: Late 19th Century - Materials: Walnut, Cane, Linen Fabric - Dimensions: W 86.5" x D 35.5" x H 34.75"; Seat interior: W 72.5" x D 32" x H 19.75" - Condition: Structurally restored and stable.
