Vladimir Kagan Handmade Postmodern Dining Chairs, Set of Eight, 1980s, Signed

About the Item

This set of 1980s Postmodern lacquered black dining chairs by Vladimir Kagan, comprised of a set of eight side chairs, are extremely high quality - these chairs have significant heft, not overly heavy but very solid hefty chairs demonstrating the high quality construction you would expect from Vladimir Kagan's handmade workshop. Signed with Vladimir Kagan labels. *Note, we have another set of 8 chairs in this same style, 2 of the set are armchairs. The upholstery is slightly different so would be best to reupholster if you wish to combine the sets. These hard to find handmade dining chairs from Vladi's 1980s Postmodern years feature their original upholstery and original black high-gloss piano finish (lacquered with a lot of hand polishing) on the sculptural solid wood frames and with original signed Vladimir Kagan labels. An Art Deco inspired design done in an 80s Post-Modern style - so unique and an excellent choice for interior designers and art collectors alike. This opulent set of dining chairs would look amazing in a Postmodern, Memphis, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Traditional, Transitional, Neoclassical, Hollywood Regency, or Mixed Style home or office. This beautiful set of side chairs can be used together or individually throughout the home in locations such as a dining room, living room, den, games room, office space, entryway or bedroom. They would also be perfect in a hospitality or corporate location, such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium. Have a conference room in a fancy high-rise or creative office? Consider these authentic and fully original 1980s Modern Vladimir Kagan chairs and impress your clients while retaining asset value in this fabulous collectors set. • Exceptionally Unique Set of 'Breteau' Wrought Iron Chairs, c 1955 France, Signed
    By Breteau
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
An exceptionally unique set of wrought iron chairs stamped 'BRETEAU' with rope corded seats, circa 1955 France. A similar chair sold in 2009 at Christie's, sold as 'Jean Luc Breteau'. This chair was also stamped and hand crafted in the same fashion, only difference with a leather wrapped seat. It sold for well over the estimate given by Christie's, with Buyers Premium and accounting for inflation the single chair cost around $9,000 to the lucky winning bidder. This set, even more special as a rare set of four, allowing the opportunity to use around a cafe or center table. Three of the four chairs are stamped on the upper circular backrest, as can be seen in the photos. Each chair exhibits unique characteristics throughout consistent with hand-crafted and hand-hammered items. Exceptionally unique, and exquisitely refined. These unique Breteau iron chairs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as side chairs, dining, cafe or breakfast table chairs...
