1980's Philippe Starck "Pratfall" Leather Easy Chairs

About the Item

Pair of first edition "Partfall" armchairs created by Philippe Starck in 1983 and produced by Driade, a renowned Italian furniture manufacturer. Designed for a space conducive to meditation in the private quarters of the Élysée Palace for the incumbent President of the French Republic, Francois Mitterrand. Cutting-edge design the chair has only three legs! It is a large version of the classic 'Costes' model dining chairs designed for the Café costes in Paris. features a tripod black enameled steel frame, the shell is made of high-gloss black lacquered curved plywood, seat is padded and covered with high-quality black leather. He was the Art Director of the Pierre Cardin studio in 1969 where he designed 65 pieces of furniture.
