Early Rope Edge Eames Lounge Chair for Herman Miller

About the Item

A very early 1st generation rope edge rare lounge height fiberglass arm shell chair with the larger rubber shock mounts having metal washers and satin black iron X base. The chair still retains the four squares manufactures label made by the Herman Miller Furniture company Zeeland Michigan, and by the Zenith Plastic company Gardena California and designed by Charles Eames. The chair is in a medium sand color or parchment tone with lots of fiber and is differentiated as early because of the rope used on the edge of the chair to give it strength since fiberglass was still not thought to be as strong and still in it's infancy. And months later they determined that it was not needed also the larger shock mounts had the same fate with a reduction of size later on.
