About the Item
This award winning piece is the inaugural chair design by Fernweh Woodworking. The frame is hand-shaped from high quality American ash stained charcoal black, with sleek joinery inspired by Danish, Scandinavian, and Mid-Century Modern design. Slung with high quality, comfortable, handstitched brown or black leather, this chair will make a statement in any room. An excellent accent lounge chair for your living room.
This design won two awards from the Oregon Chapter of the International Interior Design Association's 2017 Design Excellence Awards. It won Best in Category: Maker, and also the People's Choice Award.

Fernweh Woodworking
Justin founded Fernweh Woodworking in 2015 in Bend, OR. He developed the Sling Chair and Tripod Table in 2017, a process sparking his desire to develop a line of handcrafted furniture. The Oxbend and Fjoon Collections arrived in 2020 and 2023; Fernweh Woodworking now offers furniture for every room in a house. He is inspired by the design philosophy and work ethic of Sam Maloof, and admires the legacy and designs of Hans Wegner and the Eames, among many others. ‘ Justin studied business at Purdue University and joined the Marine Corps, deploying on an advisory team for Afghan Police. After joining a hotshot fire crew in OR, he took up woodworking.
