About the Item

Introducing a true Mid Century Modern masterpiece: the Low Back Lounge Chair designed by George Mulhauser. This iconic model, known as the "Mrs. Chair", is in 100% original, vintage condition making it ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic Plycraft bentwood chair. Constructed from a bentwood walnut shell with mesmerizing woodgrains, this chair is both durable and stylish and an iconic piece of American Mid-Century Modern design. George Mulhauser was an American industrial designer who gained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for his furniture designs. He was one of the most important designers of the Mid-Century Modern era, and his designs were frequently featured in the pages of the most prestigious design publications of the time. He was a major player in the furniture design industry and his designs were considered as modern for all. Plycraft was an American furniture manufacturer founded in the 1940s, known for producing high-quality and stylish furniture. The company was particularly well known for its chairs and ottomans, which were often designed by leading designers of the time, including George Mulhauser. Plycraft was considered one of the most important furniture manufacturers of the mid-twentieth century, and their designs were often compared to those of Charles and Ray Eames. This exceptionally rare "Mrs." Chair, paired perfectly with the ubiquitous "Mr. Chair", is a piece of Mid-Century Modern history, adding a touch of twentieth century elegance to any space. Add this one-of-a-kind piece to your collection today and elevate your home's aesthetic to new heights before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 28.5 in / 72.39 cm Depth: 28.5 in / 72.39 cm Height: 32 in / 81.28 cm Seat Height: 15 in / 38.1 cm Arm Height: 20.5 in / 52.07 cm Condition Details: This ultra-rare "Mrs." Chair is in 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection! With that said there are no gouges, stains or cracks in the wood and the original clearcoat is still in excellent overall shape retaining its protective film. The original tufted vinyl seat and backrest too show no major signs of wear with no rips, odors or stains present whatsoever. This extraordinary Mrs. Chair by Plycraft is comfortable, structurally sound and ready for decades more of use. Please view all photos for details on this iconic lounger's current condition.
