Pair of 19th Century Ceylonese Satinwood & Caned Lounge Chairs. These are a pair of British Colonial Ceylonese satinwood and cane chairs. Made in the Late 19th in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), these chairs represent the fusion of British design influences with local craftsmanship. The design reflects the broader trends of British Colonial furniture production in Ceylon. Satinwood was a favored material due to its durability and lustrous finish, while cane provided comfortable and breathable seating in the tropical climate. 36" deep x 24.5" wide x 34.5" high x 12.5" seat height Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, some minor wood separation on the arm handles. Fading of wood finish. Hand caning in good condition. Scuff and scratches to finish from normal use. Good overall condition. cushion not included.
