Poul Kjærholm Chair "PK-22" in Original Leather by E. Kold Christensen, 1960s

About the Item

Rare early E. Kold Christensen production "PK-22" by Poul Kjærholm in original dark brown aniline leather with an amazing deep patina. The leather and upholstery work on these early production chairs were handmade at the workshop of Ivan Schlechter. The frame is made from matt-plated steel. This example was made in the early 1960s and is marked by maker. The "PK-22" was designed in 1956 and is one of Poul Kjærholms most iconic designs. It is a simple yet sophisticated construction combining two edges of bent steel connected beneath the seat by curved steel struts and covered with layers of canvas and leather. The iconic chair won the Grand Prize at the Milan Triennale in 1957 and exemplifies Poul Kjærholm’s vision and quest for the ideal form and dimension.

  • Easy Chair in Oak & Velour by Alfred Christensen for Slagelse Møbelværk, 1950s
    By Slagelse Mobelvaerk, Alfred Christensen
    Located in Odense, DK
Easy chair by designed by Alfred Christensen in the early 1950s and manufactured by Slagelse Møbelværk. This stunning chair has aged beautifully and the original velvet upholstery and wood finish has the perfect patina. Clean and pure lines define this armchair that are coupled with expert craftsmanship. Adopting the trend of abandoning ornamentation to benefit the form, Christensen maintained the beauty and warmth inherent to traditional Danish cabinetmaking. In consequence, this armchair has a beautiful, warm look with rounded edges and an open look. The only ornamentation is the piping cord that runs along the edges of the body. The unique colour of the original velour upholstery in combination with the stunning Scandinavian oakwood legs and arms create warm elegance, perfect to bring a modern touch to any space. While Danish designers, including Alfred Christensen, had many principles, above all, all designers...

  • PK22 in Cane by Poul Kjærholm for E Kold Christensen
By E. Kold Christensen, Poul Kjærholm
    Located in Saint Paul, MN
This is a rare early edition PK22 by famed Danish designer, Poul Kjærholm. Manufactured by Ejvind Kold Christensen, this model long predates any current models available from Fritz Hansen. Kjærholm's designs are know for their architectural nature and the PK22 is no different. The bent steel legs and frame serve as the framework for delicately woven cane whose warmth is a juxtaposition to the sterility of the steel. The cane is perfectly patinated and pairs well with the oxidized steel frame that is missing some of the finish. This is a true collector's item that can be used for many years. Confluence...
