About the Item

Handsome vintage Mid-Century Modern Samsonite black vinyl faux leather & chrome bar or counter stools. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The chrome ring has been cleaned & polished but still retains a bit of patina, consisting of spots of rust and pitting, and the shaft and all black pieces have been repainted. Vinyl is in wonderful condition with no apparent flaws. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. circa, 1970s. What a DYNAMIC DUO!!! This is a fabulous pair of vintage Samsonite counter height or bar height stools comprised of a black 4 prong base and shaft and a scoop shaped seat and curved back wearing black faux leather. They swivel, they adjust, they have a fabulous chrome foot ring, and it adjusts too! Simple, comfortable, and versatile! What more could you need or want? These are the perfect stool for your kitchen, bar, or rec room whether you live in a Mid-Century Modern home, an Industrial loft, a modern country, or even a mountain ranch. So, there you have it, Comfort… Check! Versatility… Check! Impeccable style… Check!! This dynamic duo has all of the boxes checked!! Samsonite, best known for their luggage, was founded in Denver in 1910 by Jesse Shwayder. Jesse was born and raised in the late 19th century American West but found himself in his 20s in New York selling luggage for the Seward Trunk and Bag Company. However, he had a dream. A dream of going home along with a dream of owning his own company. He did just that. That company was first named Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. However, its name was changed in 1965 to Samsonite honoring its best-selling product. Jesse Shwayder named the line as such for its incredible strength which he likened to the Biblical character, Samson. The first 60-70 plus years Samsonite was operated by the Shwayder family and went through many expansions and changes. One of those expansions was into the furniture market. But by the 1970s they were bought out by the Beatrice umbrella. Again, going though many expansions and changes and……cutbacks too and changing hands many times. After all those years, the luggage portion of Samsonite is back in Denver operating from their original location. And the furniture portion is operating as it did from its beginning in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Samsonite Corporation and Samsonite Furniture are now separate companies. This pair of vintage Samsonite faux leather & chrome barstools is just too wonderful to let slip away! You simply MUST make them yours!! Beautiful swivel bar stool by A. Brandt comprised of solid ranch oak and a dark brown almost black vinyl or faux leather seat cushion. Wonderful vintage condition. The joints have been tightened and the swivel lubricated, and a light coat of restore-a-finish has been applied. Please see photos. Circa mid-20th century. Such an awesome bar stool by A. Brandt!! This stool is comprised of rustic solid ranch oak with an Acorn Brown finish that is signature to A. Brandt Company furniture. Acorn Brown was made by applying an oil stain before sealing the wood. After lacquering, Acorn Brown wax was applied. And this stool wears it well!! It’s just what you need at the end of your rustic, western, or industrial style bar, but it would also be perfect at a tall game or bar style table. This fabulous stool has a solid ranch oak base with an iron ring stretcher joining its four splayed legs which makes it extra sturdy and mirrors the sultry dark brown round and rotating cushioned vinyl seat.
