Spindle Bar Chair in Solid Walnut and Steel Designed by Craig Bassam
By BassamFellows
Located in Ridgefield, CT
Since its release, the Spindle Chair’s distinctive silhouette has appeared in a vast array of celebrated commercial and residential interiors. The phenomenally successful piece was inspired by a visit to Louis Kahn’s Exeter Library. Designer Craig Bassam’s imagination was ignited when he noticed the traditional utilitarian chair juxtaposed against the powerful geometry of Kahn’s building. Seduced by its elemental simplicity, Bassam realized an updated spindle back chair would fit perfectly within the BassamFellows ‘Craftsman Modern’ aesthetic. The BassamFellows Spindle Chair offers a new take on the classic piece, a descendent of the classic English Windsor Chair. One first notices its weightless quality, which Bassam achieved by using metal for the chair’s legs and spindles, giving the illusion of two floating surfaces. This contemporary reboot makes the spindles less prominent, evoking a less rustic, 21st century setting for the chair. A counterpoint to the metal spindles is the chair’s timber elements, including an ultra-comfortable ergonomic seat carved from solid wood. Given its updated minimal silhouette, ultra-light materiality and concern for comfort, it’s the kind of chair you can envision in many contexts. The Spindle Collection includes counter and barstool...

By Francesco Balzano
Located in New York, NY
Ossicle Leather Stool -- Francesco Balzano x Giobagnara Available in a suede finish. Pictured here is the stool in A91 Nude suede finish. For simple and sophisticated leather and marble products, look no further than the Francesco Balzano line. Born and raised in Paris, Francesco Balzano studied interior design and architecture before opening his own studio to design custom and limited editions of furniture pieces for galleries around the world. The influence of Venice, Rome, and Capri are omnipresent in many of Balzano’s products, which fashion simple elegance out of a carefully selected range of leather and marble colors and finishes. The monolithic seats, benches, and tables that comprise Balzano’s ossicle collection strike the perfect balance between organic and pure geometric shapes, thus offering contemporary luxury elevated by minimalism. The singularity of each design conceived as a sculptural piece is bound to stand the test of time. For nearly twenty years, the Giobagnara brand has combined traditional know-how and leading-edge technology to produce elegance of the highest standard. Original 'Birillo' Barstools Set by Joe Colombo for Zanotta, c. 1971, Signed
By Zanotta, ICF New York, Joe Colombo
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A rare collectors set of five (5) 'Birillo' bar-height barstools designed in 1971 by Joe Colombo for Zanotta, Italy, retailed by ICF New York. Signed underneath with Zanotta embossed logo and design information on each chair and ICF New York retailer labels on some of the chairs. These examples are original early year productions and ideal for collectors and modern art and design investors. These examples feature red vintage patent leatherette upholstery and white fiberglass bases. It's very hard to find a single Birillo stool let alone find a matched set of five bar-height barstools. If you are looking for a large set of modern bar height barstools, don't hesitate because once these are gone it will be a difficult opportunity to replicate. This early Post-Modern quintessential design is often misspelled 'Brillo' and even sometimes 'Brillio' but as seen documented in the 1978 Zanotta catalogue, the correct spelling is 'Birillo'. This set of five Joe Colombo Birillo...
