About the Item

Gilbert Rohde, Mid-Century Modern design The iconic piano stool is designed by Gilbert Rohde and manufactured in the 1930s. The stool can be used traditionally or as a bedside table, or as a table next to a chair as the surface is very firm. The base is tubular chromium-plated steel and the seat is upholstered with patinated Niger leather. The designer, Gilbert Rohde, was a prominent American industrial designer for such companies as Heywood-Wakefield and Herman Miller. In 1933 He designed this collection of stools for the Troy Sunshade Company.
