About the Item

A large freestanding shop counter from a pharmacy. 1930`s/ 1940`s. Solidly crafted in pitch pine. Ideal for use as a counter, product display unit or kitchen island. Three-sided panelled pine body (pitch pine) on a rectangular base with a slightly protruding top panel. The back has a total of 25 drawers, a double sliding door and practical open shelves. Each drawer is made of solid pine wood and has the original handle with label frame on the front. There are 2 additional shelves inside behind the sliding doors. The front of the counter is divided by 5 cassettes and has a large blackboard on which for example daily specials can be attractively advertised with chalk. Dimensions Height: 99.5 cm / 39.17 inch. Width: 325 cm / 127.95 inch. Depth: 69.5 cm / 27.36 inch. Internal dimensions of the drawers: 8 small drawers each 7 cm (2.75 inch) high, 20.5 cm (8.07 inch) wide, 46 cm (18.11 inch) deep 5 medium drawers each 12 cm (4.72 inch) high, 15.5 cm (6.1 inch) wide, 45.5 cm (17.91 inch) deep 12 large drawers each 15.5 cm (6.1 inch) high, 20.5 cm (8.07 inch) wide, 46 cm (18.11 inch) deep Small shelves: 13.5 cm (5.31 inch)/ 16.5 cm (6.49 inch)/ 15.5 cm (6.1 inch)/ 21.5 cm (8.46 inch) high, 23.5 cm (9.25 inch) wide, 15 cm (5.9 inch) deep Large shelf compartment: 30 cm (11.81 inch)/ 29 cm (11.41 inch) high, 76 cm (29.92 inch) or 102 cm (40.15 inch) wide, 56 cm (22.04 inch) deep Shelves behind the sliding door: 25 cm (9.84 inch)/ 25 cm (9.84 inch)/ 22 cm (8.66 inch) high, 102 cm (40.15 inch) wide, 50 cm (19.68 inch) deep Good restored condition. Among other things, the following work has been done on the counter: Old damaged surface coating sanded off, and then the surface resealed. All drawers completely sanded and the drawer handles cleaned. Remodelling of the old L-shaped counter and addition of a blackboard to match the style and material. Addition of skirting boards at both ends. Addition of a 325 cm long top panel. The furniture cannot be dismantled for transport. Only the drawers and shelves can be removed.
