19th Century Boulle-Style Buffet in Marquetry from the Napoleon III Period
About the Item
This rare buffet 'd'appui', crafted in the exquisite Boulle marquetry style, dates back to the Napoleon III era in the 19th century. Executed with the same precision as Charles-André Boulle during his time, this piece pays homage to the renowned Parisian École Boulle. The marquetry showcases a stunning combination of red tortoiseshell and brass, set upon an oak frame covered with a layer of darkened pearwood. Its two doors reveal oval medallions decorated with gilded bronze features, while the protruding front columns showcase busts of women. Crowning the piece is a Carrara white marble top, further enhancing the opulence of this unique piece. Meticulously restored and revarnished by our expert cabinetmaker specialising in Boulle furniture restoration, this buffet 'd'appui' is in great condition.
