Napoleon III Style Ebony Ormolu Cabinet.
Located in Warsaw, PL
"This ebony ormolu cabinet is crafted from Empire style ebony under Napoleon III. In the 19th century, the Empire style prevailed in the years 1800 to 1815. Symmetry of lines, balance and order are characteristic of Empire style. This style embodies the art of sophistication, seduction and at the same time imbued with the greatness of Napoleon III. Thus, luxury Napoleon III style cabinet has very rampant arrogance and pathos, drama and flair.
The top of the French cabinet is luxurious and noble white marble. Below the marble is a two-wing cabinet made from jet black ebony with mysterious and classy colors. The borders are acanthus motifs in the colors of ancient Greece. Consecutive acanthus motifs surround the pentagonal cabinet.
The upper two corners of the front face are carved with the bust of a beautiful and elegant woman. French aristocratic beauty in the 19th century. Engraved curves combined with classic acanthus and anthemia motifs bring indescribable beauty. Marquetry brings a glamorous and glossy look to the French ormolu cabinet...

We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare Alfred Beurdeley (1847-1919) Paris fully stamped Tulip and Kingwood with bronze mounts jewelry casket on stand
This is one of the finest jewelry caskets I have ever seen, the quality is second to none, if you search works by Berurdeley you will see multiple pieces in the hundreds of thousands of pounds, these are some of the best and most collectable original handmade master craftsman pieces ever conceived. A Japanese lacquered cabinet of similar form made by Beurdeley which was larger sold in Sothebys in June last year for 216,125 Euros including fees
The cabinet is made with bookmatched Tulip and Kingwood with gilt bronze mounts all-over, the leather top is the original which is nicely aged, there is also a functioning key which is needed to access the drop front
Condition wise this piece has been cleaned waxed and polished, I have left the overall finish original however it can be fully restored to include a strip back and French polish should the new owners wish, this restoration would be completed at the new owners expense. Alfred Beurdeley, 1847-1919
Nationality: French
Date of Birth: 1847
Place of Birth: Paris
Place of Death: Paris
Identity: Emmanuel-Alfred Beurdeley was a collector who came from a family of cabinetmakers, antique dealers and collectors. He was the illegitimate son of Louis-Auguste-Alfred Beurdeley (1808–82). His grandfather, Jean Beurdeley (1772–1853), who served in Napoleon's army, opened a small antique shop in the Marais district of Paris. In 1830 he bought the Pavillon de Hanovre, 28 Boulevard des Italiens, which became the Beurdeley firm's principal gallery until 1894. L.-A.-A. Beurdeley dealt in antiques and works of art and was also a cabinetmaker specializing in reproductions of seventeenth and eighteenth Century Furniture. His clients included Napoleon III and the Empress Eugénie.
Life: In 1875 E.-A. Beurdeley took over his family's gallery and workshops and until 1894 concentrated on continuing the line of luxury furniture sold by his father. He was one of the most important Parisian cabinetmakers, and won a Gold Medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878. He was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1893 following the Universal Exhibition in Amsterdam. In 1895 he closed the Pavillon de Hanovre and retired to his hôtel in the Rue de Clichy. The rest of his life was spent acquiring and selling enormous collections of furniture, Chinese porcelain, paintings and drawings, including an extraordinary group of eighteenth century French drawings by François Boucher, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Nicolas Lancret and Antoine Watteau in 1905. 20th Italian Cabinet on Stand, Baroque Bargueno with Inlays & Mounts
Located in Miami, FL
Italian cabinet on table. Walnut and rosewood, hawksbill, bronze in color and gilded, 20th century.
Sample desktop pool located on ball and claw with handles on the sides. The buffet or table that holds barguen~era is carved legs insured by lower chambrana (also machined with a given center) together and to the cover by curved metal fasteners capped scroll.
Barguen~o paws have claw-shaped carved synthesized bird on ball, something very typical of the seventeenth century. The cover has this elegant geometric decoration, and so do the five drawers discover: the decoration of the side to diamonds made in marquetry by dark wood inlaid fillets of light, an element that is repeated in the interior of the chapel is reduced.
As usual in the baroque barguen~o, the center of the sample is where the decoration is conducted, in general, based on areas tortoiseshell framed or highlighted with dark wood moldings and surrounded by sinuous curved lines made in marquetry, always maintaining symmetry. T
The general outline of the furniture is very common in all the European Baroque and the compositional clarity not break until the arrival of the Rococo. All decorative elements, based on the classical tradition, are characteristic of this type of furniture: desks with outdoor displays of this scheme are known and performed throughout Europe, with a Flemish influence in its creation, the Italians being the most valued for their decoration.
The practice of employing tortoiseshell plates...

Pair of Louis XVI Style Vitrines with Wedgwood Plaques by Zwiener, circa 1880
Located in Brighton, West Sussex
An important pair of Louis XVI style gilt-bronze mounted vitrines with wedgwood Jasperware plaques, by Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener.
French, circa 1880.
Stamped 'NZ', 'NZ.309' and 'ZJ' to the reverse of the bronze mounts.
Signed to the reverse of the lockplate 'Mon THEAU THIEFFINE Succ./SERRURIER PARIS'.
This rare pair of vitrines, each have a shaped Carrera marble top above a frieze centred by a round classical Jasperware plaque flanked by gilt-bronze putti figures and scrolling acanthus running pattern. Below is a gilt-bronze framed bevelled glass door above a panel centred by a finely modelled Jasperware plaque of a putto representing the seasons. The door is flanked to either side by gilt-bronze monnaie pattern and headed by a pair of exceptionally fine female canephor figures. The shaped sides have corresponding bevelled glass panels and the vitrine is raised on tapering fluted legs.
The distinctive canephor figures, finely cast as female caryatids with ringlets in their hair and supporting baskets of fruit upon their heads, is a distinctive and celebrated model unique to Zwiener. Many of Zwieners bronzes are executed in the Louis XV style, with flowers and scrolling acanthus leaves and an emphasis on asymmetry, typical of the work of his bronze sculptor Léon Messagé. The mounts employed on this rare pair of vitrines however sees Zwiener creating his own up-to-date reinterpretation of the Louis XVI style, drawing inspiration from established Louis XVI models such as those designed by Weisweiler for Marie-Antoinette's Dressing table. [See Mestdagh, p.305].
A second distinctive feature of the vitrines is the finely modelled Wedgwood Jasperware plaques incorporated in the frieze of each vitrine and beneath the doors. Wedgwood exhibited at nearly all of the Universal Exhibitions held in 19th century France, displaying amongst other pieces, plaques specifically intended to be mounted on to furniture. The first vitrine displays to the frieze a finely modelled plaque in the classical style, depicting a group of putti at play, one being pushed on a swing, while another plays a trumpet and a small attentive dog watches from below. Beneath the glass panelled door a larger Jasperware plaque is incorporated depicting a putto figure with a garland of flowers, emblematic of spring.
The second vitrine has a classical plaque...

James Bearden Segment Cabinet 'Square'
Located in New York, NY
"Segment Cabinet (square)” a sculptural work in torch-cut and polychromed steel with fused bronze, solvent dyes, and glass enamel, with a birch top. By American artist James Bearden. The square cabinet, with its dramatic composition and juxtaposition of shapes and colors drawn from Bearden’s evolving vocabulary, is perched atop four long legs; it has an asymmetrically set hinged front door. Signed and with a Certificate of Authenticity from the artist. Bearden's work was featured in a 2020 solo exhibition at the NY Design Center titled "James Bearden: Technical and Aesthetic Revelations," in an article in the January 2017 Interior Design Magazine; in an introspective feature on 1stdibs; and in a feature article in DSM Magazine. In an introduction to the 2020 exhibition, curator Kartrina Weinberg wrote: "In the two years after the artist’s last solo exhibition — where the material reality of steel was evident in both its title and monochromatic appearance — Mr. Bearden sought to break free from pre-conceived judgment of his medium, as well as the persistent misnomers applied to his art. While subtle color play has always existed in his previous works, the development in his coloring technique — from painted polychrome to dyed glass enamel — allowed for dramatic saturation and stunning complexity in his new palette, bringing heightened immediacy to his biomorphic and anthropomorphic imagery. The artist had always challenged the gravitational reality of steel, but he has found new expressions towards verticality and delicacy, transcending material and elevating function. The open compositions, ranging from ornamental tracery to dynamic use of negative space, allow for the interplay of light and air, animating the environment with ever-changing viewing possibilities. This exhibition took inspiration from the naturalist traditions and fantastical imagery of Early Netherlandish paintings...
