About the Item

A sensational and extremely decorative pair of Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. flamed Mahogany, Maplewood, Olivewood ebonized Fruitwood and ormolu chests. The his and hers pair of three drawer chests are raised by handsome richly carved paw feet below the mottled straight frieze. The bottom drawer displays a beautiful elegantly curved design and showcases the beautiful flamed Mahogany grain while the central drawer boasts a stunning pierced richly chased ormolu plaque of personages amidst horses and lions set on an arched ebonized fruitwood background with star reserves. At each side are superb finely detailed ormolu lion head pulls and each drawer displays remarkable diamond shaped keyhole escutcheons. The top drawer of one of the chests opens to reveal a most unique adjustable pop up vanity mirror flanked by charming and most decorative compartments with leather and ormolu pulls and finely inlaid Walnut and Maplewood fillets. The sides and top display a beautiful French polished finish showcasing the stunning flamed Mahogany wood grain.

An exquisite and extremely decorative Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. ormolu, Fruitwood, and ebonized Fruitwood inlaid chest and original matching mirror. The four-drawer chest in the manner of Giuseppe Maggiolini is raised by elegant square legs with fine mottled feet and decorated with lovely foliate inlays. At the center are three drawers each displaying a stunning and wonderfully executed array of intricately inlaid scrolled foliate designs of amphora, vessels, musical instruments, staffs, and roaring lions with ormolu keyhole escutcheons and flanked by striking columns with elegant ormolu top and bottom caps.
