Heirloom Credenza / Cabinet Attributed to Arne Vodder, Denmark, c. 1960's

About the Item

Elevate your living space with this exquisite heirloom cabinet, credenza, buffet, or media center attributed to the renowned designer Arne Vodder. This piece showcases design features consistent with Vodder's celebrated style and is crafted with the prestigious Danish quality control standards that ensure exceptional durability and beauty. Attributed to the esteemed manufacturer Sibast, this cabinet is constructed from old-growth teak wood, exhibiting a gorgeous warm burnt orange color that beautifully contrasts with the wood's natural grain. Made in Denmark circa the 1960s, the cabinet stands on stunning minimalist tapered legs, adding a touch of elegance to its robust design. The cabinet features two sliding doors with distinctive concave pill-shaped vertical pulls, a hallmark of Vodder's design. Inside, the cabinet offers adjustable shelving, with several adjustable shelves included, providing versatile storage options. The top of the cabinet boasts a beveled edge overhang, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Arne Vodder, born in 1926 in Denmark, was a prominent furniture designer known for his simple, yet elegant pieces made from natural materials such as teak and rosewood. A student of the legendary Finn Juhl at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Vodder opened his own studio with architect Anton Borg in 1950. His work is characterized by organic forms and minimalistic designs, which gained international recognition in the 1950s and 1960s. Vodder's furniture has graced prestigious locations including the White House and numerous embassies worldwide. Sibast Furniture, founded in 1908 in Denmark, has a long history of producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture. Known for its commitment to Danish design and craftsmanship, Sibast collaborated with several renowned designers, including Arne Vodder, to create timeless pieces that blend form and function. The company's dedication to excellence has made it a respected name in the world of furniture, continuing to produce iconic designs that stand the test of time. ---Dimensions--- Width: 59.75 in / 151.77 cm Depth: 16.75 in / 42.55 cm Height: 30.25 in / 76.84 cm Save for two minor veneer repairs this aesthetically stunning credenza is in original, vintage condition. The mix of solid and veneered teak composition does show some minor signs of vintage wear such as minor nicks and surfaces scratches (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided) as well as the abovementioned veneer repairs (also shown in the detail photos provided). With that said the teak is in overall very good condition and the woodgrains are absolutely mesmerizing in natural light. Both sliding doors open and close with ease as does the single slim-sized drawer. This exquisite credenza is highly functional, structurally sound and ready for a lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and video for details on this sideboard's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
