About the Item

This heavily carved credenza was created in Italy circa 1870. Built of solid walnut, the buffet stands on elegant cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulders, and ending with paw feet. The cabinet features three doors across the front opening to inside shelving for ultimate storage, over a scalloped apron. The buffet is richly carved throughout with high relief female figures in the corners, carved females on each door, scroll motifs and floral vase arrangements on both side panels. The Renaissance style sideboard is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina. 3 locks and 3 keys included. Measures: 69.5"W x 19.75"D x 39"H.

This elegant, antique fruit wood sideboard was carved in Southern France, circa 1880. The Classic sideboard exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate floral and foliage carvings throughout. An Italian carved walnut wood buffet credenza from the 18th century. This antique sideboard from Italy features rich walnut wood which has been carved with raised decorative cartouche plaques, in varying designs, about the front face. This piece has a rectangular-shaped top which slightly overhangs the case that is fitted with three small drawers set horizontally above a pair of doors at bottom (which open to a shelf on the inside, maximizing the storage potential of this piece). This chest is presented upon a pair of rail legs at either end with accolade carved skirt, turning to bracket-style front feet, and a single shapely carved foot/brace at front center of skirt that adds just enough lift/space between the case and the floor. The dark, rich wood has a wonderful old patina throughout; a showing of its centuries old age. Note that there have been prior repairs at the side and there is a slight bowing at top.
