18th C. French Provencal Arlesienne Credence in Walnut Antiques Los Angeles CA
Located in West Hollywood, CA
18th C. French Provencal Arlesienne Credence in Walnut Antiques Los Angeles CA . This superb 18th century French Louis XV credence buffet from Arles France is one of the most exceptional buffets. With a stamp H. H The balance of lines has been finessed to perfection. The ornamentation is refined without stiffness or conversely, ostentation simply pure with all the original elements and mechanism. The top is rectangular with a refined shaped front and back Angles. The rectangular shape has been enhanced with rounded edges and moldings on the front softening any severity. The two front door panels have refined asymmetrically shaped Carved moldings on the raised panel which somewhat mirrors the two shapes of the outer moldings. The apron is magnificently hand carved with rocaille motifs and scrolling rinceaux consisting of a continuous wavy stem like motif from which smaller leafy stems or groups of leaves branch out at more or less regular intervals. Iron keyhole escutcheons, accented with top foliage carvings, which open to reveal two interior shelves. All original warm grain and patina, and original hardware and locks. This is typical of the Arles region cabinet makers buffet De Cha^teau . The rounded corners have beautifully carved acanthus leaves and scrolled feet on hooves. The serpentine frame constructed in solid Walnut, featuring deep carved designs in the Rococo taste on all exposed sides. Each of the Buffet's hinged doors in solid Walnut. Both feature a molded edge, cartouche-shaped central field. Accented by crisp floral & foliate carvings, and with a fine depth and age to the Walnut. This cabinetmaker was a superb artisan. The sides have two asymmetrical panels meeting at the center. There is original iron hardware throughout. Outstanding patina with a beautiful shine like finish on this rare 18th century Chateau...

18th Century Bleached Walnut Italian Credenza, Buffet, Sideboard
Located in Carmine, TX
Walnut credenza handcrafted in Italy in the mid 1700s and bleached recently. Don't let its delicate overall appearance fool you because, as my lower back can attest, this baby is heavy. This is a beautiful credenza that follow the typical italian style with slanted sides, which create small triangular storage spaces on either sides of the two main front doors and drawer. Overall the credenza is very straight in lines. The drawers have flat overlay fronts, and the doors show chamfered panels with a raised carving and are framed by flat molding. The carving and molding help giving the piece some depth and decoration. The bleaching process also provided the credenza with additional warmth, depth and decoration, by bringing out the beautiful grain and underlying colors of the wood. The top of the credenza is composed of boards with ogee edge nailed to the main case. On the inside the credenza is very spacious, providing plenty of storage space. Overall this is a beautiful piece that has lived a long life, and has received some help in "hanging in there" over the years. This is a piece that will fit well with both modern and...

18th Century Louis XV Bleached Oak Buffet/Enfilade
Located in Carmine, TX
This is a beautiful, well-built and large period buffet that has style, and elegance. This gorgeous piece was built in the mid 1700s using all pegged construction and solid oak. The buffet features 3 drawers over three doors, all decorated with beautiful carving and raised panels throughout. The drawers show beautiful hand-made dovetailed joints and the back itself is a work of art. The buffet is still sitting on its original carved feet and shows a scalloped and carved apron, and is finished with simple, original hardware. This piece was hand-selected because of its beautiful proportions, carvings and overall color. The bleaching process shows much of the natural grain of the wood but it also highlights the human-made carvings, creating a beautiful combination of natural and human designs...
