Early to Mid 19th Century American Walnut Plantation Desk 2-pc

About the Item

The 19th Century was known as a golden age of letter writing and diary keeping. As such, desks were necessary pieces found in many homes and businesses across America. Of the many desk styles of the era, one such desk form that was simple in design and incredibly functional was the plantation desk or the practical drop-front desk. This design was often found in businesses and post offices. Shakers also implemented this design into their communities in New England. This unique, plantation desk from the early to mid 19th century is a beautiful piece of history that’s been well preserved. Constructed of rich walnut, this sturdy 2-piece desk boasts a single drawer with two knobs, a drop-front that doubles as a writing surface and protects lovely nooks once used to organize paperwork. The small frame design of this piece makes it perfect for so many decors calling out for that perfectly simple piece of furniture that draws attention and conversation about its origin. A wonderful find for those seeking that uniquely perfect piece.
