A scarce early American painted pine barbershop back bar. circa 1840
Born in the United States in the first half of the 19th century, this remarkable rare antique barber station features primitive hand-crafted solid wood construction, retaining the original paint finish with beautifully aged warm rustic patina, having a narrow rectangular top, over two support columns fitted with a single drawer over shelved cabinet affixed with original forged iron hardware, flanking an open knee hole, with sturdy plank boarded back.

Acquired from the highly reputable auction house Bright Star Antiques Co., Sulfur Springs, Texas. Specializing in early American country, farmhouse, general store, and architectural salvage for over thirty years.

Presents splendidly. Strong, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound, with heavily worn distressed patina over the whole. Wear consistent with age and indicative of industrial use, nothing that detracts from the overall display or functionality but only adds to the sophisticated antique character, elegant rustic warmth, and rich historical depth that can only be acquired over very long periods of time!
