Early 19th Century English Mahogany Brandy Board

About the Item

Early 19th century mahogany brand board, or small sideboard from England. This piece has a banded mahogany edge with satinwood inlay around the top. The top is shaped to compliment the curves of the piece below. It has blocked out edges and a blocked edge breaking up the curved front for added design detail. The sides of the case are simple and have lovely graining and color. The front of the case is slightly curved for a nice bowed shape. There are two central drawers, flanked by deep top drawers, which can be used as cellarettes, both over two doors which open to reveal cavernous storage. The piece is raised on wonderfully hand turned and carved decorated reeded feet. The doors and drawers have boulle string inlay and have lovely hand cast pulls.
