George II Period Welsh Dresser, 18th Century

About the Item

A fine and decorative Welsh dresser, dating probably ca. 1740-1760, with a pierced and carved frieze as well as an especially interesting interlaced carved apron over an open baluster front base. Welsh dressers were important case pieces built to contain and display the finest dishes and pewter of the household. Four drawers provided storage, original hardware. The back of the upper section is freshly upholstered in a natural linen. Good rustic antique condition with patina, wear, imperfections and restorations commensurate with age and use.
